THE EIGHTH DAY

Now playing in select cities. Email us to organize a screening.

The Story

THE EIGHTH DAY follows two gay Jewish husbands deciding whether or not they will circumcise their son on the day of the ritual while their parents and friends wait downstairs.

We are not looking to shift anyone’s religious practice, but rather to honor the complexity at the heart of an ancient conversation that ties together themes of Jewish lineage, tribalism, identity, and modern parenting.

With this heartfelt comedic film, we are looking to create an accessible piece of art that acknowledges the growing conversation surrounding brit milah, particularly in non-traditional and queer families. What once was a whispered debate primarily taking place in “radical” spaces is now getting louder in the mainstream Jewish world and we want our film to reflect this change.

Starring: Cast: Tony nominee Steven Skybell (Cabaret on Broadway, Yiddish Fiddler of the Roof), Sarah Coffey (upcoming 31 CANDLES), Lori Wilner (Succession), Yair Ben-Dor (Prayer for the French Republic), Suzanne Toren, Kenneth de Abrew (Awkwafina is Nora from Queens), Joan Roth, and Jonah Weinstein
